Paddling Event on Lake Lefferts – Kayak, Canoe, SUP – Dim Sum Lunch!

We’ve all been doing plenty of hikes and bike rides so our legs have been getting plenty of exercise. Well, now that it’s summer, it’s time to give our upper body and arms some exercise, too, by doing some PADDLING, eh?

Lake Lefferts is a good place for a first-paddle-of-the-season as it has a very “user-friendly” boat launch that accommodates paddlers of all levels. It also has a rental facility right next to the boat launch for anyone needing to rent a kayak or canoe – no SUP’s (paddle boards) available though. We’ll do one circuit of the lake which is a distance of about 3 miles. The rental facility opens at 10:00 AM, so, anyone wanting to rent should figure on arriving at the facility at 9:45 AM.

After the paddle, for everyone who’d like to join in, we’ll head over to the [West Lake Plum House](https://www.yelp.com/biz/west-lake-plum-house-matawan?hrid=ZjUD8_kaEbenenp7IMO0zQ&osq=Shanghai+Bun) for a yummy Dim Sum lunch.

Meetup time for all participants will be 10:00 AM at the boat launch which is located on the south side of Ravine Dr. about 50 ft. from where Matawan Ave. intersects (see the meetup Location Map). Note that it looks like you can park your car there at the boat launch BUT do NOT do that! The actual parking lot is located across the road from the boat launch on the corner of Ravine Dr. and Matawan Ave.

Update: anyone looking to rent a kayak or canoe can try calling this number for the rental facility that that I managed to track down: 732-566-3898, ext. 130. However, I’ve tried calling it several times, myself, and nobody ever answers. So, best bet is still to get to the rental facility before it opens at 10:00 AM on Saturday. We’ll wait for everyone who is renting to finish up with the rental procedure and get to the boat launch no matter what time that is… no one will be left behind…
